Immediately after you sign up, you’ll get access to your personal fundraising web page where your supporters can make donations and you can track your fundraising progress. Within 1 week of signing up, you’ll also receive a Welcome Kit (via post) containing resources and tips that make fundraising both fun and easy!

What’s the difference between the different Rise Up options?

add remove

There are 4 different ways to Rise Up:

  1. Challenge Yourself: Choose this for any sort of challenge … run your first 5K, do a 30-day meditation challenge, climb Carrauntoohil or take 10,000 steps everyday for a month. If you feel like inspiring others to join you, you can make your challenge “public” which will allow others to sign up and do the same activity while fundraising on their own fundraising page.
  2. Donate Your Day: Donate your birthday, anniversary, wedding day, baby’s birth, even your pet’s birthday! Instead of gifts, ask friends and family to make a donation to your fundraising page. Celebrating has never been better!
  3. Get Creative: You can turn any idea into a fundraiser….auction your artwork, do a bake sale, wash cars, sing in the streets, sell lemonade, paint silly portraits - anything goes!
  4. Host an Event: Feel like organising a public event such as a community 5K walk, a pub quiz, golf tournament or concert? This is the option for you! A few important things to keep in mind:
    1. When you sign up as an event Host, you will get access to your event page where people can sign up for your event as well as make donations. When people sign up for the event, they will receive their own fundraising page so they can ask for donations from their personal networks. The total amount raised by all participants in your event will show up on your event page.
    2. You can designate a co-host during the signup process, if you wish.
    3. Instead of selling tickets to your event, we suggest you ask for a minimum donation amount. But, if ticket sales are necessary, then please contact us and we can set up an event page that can accommodate tickets.
PS. You don’t really need to do any activity in order to fundraise for A Lust for Life. The fundraising can BE the activity! You can simply start a fundraising page (use the Get Creative option) and share the page with friends and family so they can make a donation!

What if I want to create a fundraiser as a group or team?

add remove

Group/Team fundraising is only available if you use the Challenge Yourself or Host an Event options.

When you sign up, you’ll be given the option to make your fundraiser “public”.

What is in the Welcome Kit and when will I receive it?

The Welcome Kit contains a Rise Up wristband, a poster (which you can customise with your own message), a checklist (which also doubles as a tabletop sign) and some Rise Up stickers (which you can wear or give to your top supporters).

Welcome Kits are sent (via post) within a week of you signing up. If you haven’t received your kit within two weeks of signing up, please contact support@alustforlife.com.

Fundraising

How do I fundraise?

add remove

Start by logging into your Dashboard to customise your fundraising page with your photo. Asking potential donors for support is more effective if they understand why you’re fundraising.  So, while you’re in your Dashboard, update the blog text with your personal connection to the cause of youth mental health.

Next, you can easily share your page directly from your Dashboard using the social share, WhatsApp or email buttons. (There’s text already pre-loaded…but feel free to make it your own!) You can also download a QR code poster from your Dashboard which you can hang in your office, school, clubhouse or community centre. (When supporters scan the QR code, it will send them directly to your fundraising page where they can donate!)

We also have a full library of graphics you can post to your social media or send via text or Whatsapp to your supporters. Just be sure to include a link to your fundraising page so people know where to donate.

How much am I expected to raise?

add remove

There is no required level of fundraising. Remember that every euro makes a difference!

We encourage you to aim high with your fundraising goal and raise as much as possible. On average, people have raised around €500…so that’s why we suggest that as a target…but the sky is the limit!

You can always increase your fundraising goal in your Dashboard. (Most people do!)

Can I earn any rewards by fundraising?

add remove

The more you raise, the more digital badges and fundraising rewards you will earn! When you reach €500, you’ll also end up on our Wall of Fame!

Where does my fundraising money go?

add remove

1 in 5 children in Ireland live with anxiety. That’s not childhood. That’s a crisis. Our Rise Up fundraisers are helping us change it.

At A Lust for Life, we believe that mental health education is a right, not a privilege. Through our schools programme, we give children the skills to manage emotions, build resilience, and navigate life’s challenges, before a crisis hits. All funds you raise will directly support our mission to empower and educate all young people in Ireland through early preventative mental health programmes. Your support allows us to continue this important work and respond where the need is greatest. Learn more about our mission and our work here.

What is my fundraising Dashboard?

Your online fundraising dashboard is your own website where you can easily manage your fundraising. You can personalise your page with your own story (blog) and photos; as well as send out emails and social media posts to collect donations and thank your donors.

On your Dashboard you can see a list of your donors, the total amount you’ve raised towards your goal and also a button to increase your goal. (A great idea if you’re getting close to your target!)

You will also see the badges you can earn by completing simple fundraising tasks and hitting milestones.

What information should I post on my individual and group/team fundraising pages?

add remove

Customise your team and individual fundraising pages by sharing your story and why you’re raising money for youth mental health. This helps boost your fundraising success, showing potential donors why this cause is important to you.

If you plan to include personal information about other people on your fundraising page, including family members or friends, please be sure to consult with them first in case they have concerns about seeing such information made public.
